Hot Casting News for US Version of Being Human

Seems like the American version of Being Human has found its vampire Aidan (it's Mitchell in the Original UK version). According to Ausiello, the vampire will be played by former Smallville super baddie Sam Witwer.

As well, actress Meaghan Rath (The Assistants) as signed on to play the role of ghost Molly (Annie). Not officially cast yet but believed to be in the running for the role of the werewolf Josh (George) is Sam Huntington (Superman Returns, Cavemen).
[Ask Ausiello]

Being Human is about a vampire, a ghost and a werewolf living together and trying to blend in with the rest of the world. I hope the US version will work as well as the British original does.
So what do you think of these casting news?

And do you think Witwer will be as swoon worthy great as Aidan Turner is in the role?

Just leaving you with that image and thought. You can absolutely click on it. Just saying.

Doctor Who - Rory and Amy's Wedding Album!

Well this must be one of the most original things I've seen from the official site of Doctor Who yet.

The BBC has released pictures from the "wedding album" of Rory Williams and Amy Pond!

Enjoy!

Summer Glau is a Star Trek Girl!

Summer Glau is one of those quintessential Sci-Fi tv actresses, having starred in such fares as Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and most recently Dollhouse.

Recently, she gave an interview to SciFi TV Australia, and the actress admitted that:
I really grew up on . . . Star Trek: The Next Generation. That was a show that I watched with my parents that I talked them into letting me stay up to watch it. I got to meet Marina Sirtis last year, which was a really special moment for me. I grew up idolising her.
So our Summer Glau is a proud Trekkie then?

And when asked if there was someone particular from the Sci-Fi circuit she'd like to meet the actress said she'd like to meet the original Captain Kirk himself: William Shatner.

Please go here to read the rest of the great interview.

Summer Glau will next star in NBC's The Cape in the fall.

News on the Upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Episode

Apparently the script for this year's Doctor Who Christmas episode has gone missing and now Steven Moffat has to race against time to come up with a new draft because filming is supposed to begin on July 10.

Also, the Christmas episode will be a ''flashback Christmas Special.''
[Daily Star]

I'm thinking wouldn't a copy of the script be in his computer? Has it been deleted from his computer? I find that a bit strange.

And if that story is true, it means no Orient Express in Space story for Christmas then.

Still, is it Christmas yet?

Doctor Who 5.13 The Big Bang Review

"Okay kid, this is where it gets complicated." - Amy

Okay! Hum, Wow. First things first, that Series 5 finale was rather surprising and not at all what I expected it to be. In fact, it could not have been more different in tone to the episode that preceded it.

Doctor Who 5.13 The Big Bang Later Today in the UK!

This is it! The last episode of Series 5 of Doctor Who and tonight we'll get more answers to what is happening!

The Crack, the Tardis exploding, Amy, Auton Rory, River Song, the Doctor. All is coming to a head.

Plus the return of an important character. Will it be Omega as many believe? Or could it also be The Master, or even the Meta-crisis Doctor as some have suggested (though I doubt David Tennant would make a return appearance so soon).

Also, could there be more than one Tardises at work here? We know another one was being built in The Lodger.

All these questions will be answered shortly so tune in to BBC One or BBC HD at 6.05pm

Oh, and apparently, The Big Bang may segue into the Christmas episode right at the end (though I wonder when in time will that leave the Doctor's appearance in Series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures).

How excited are you?

Its Official: Michael Fassbender to play Magneto in X-Men: First Class

According to Heat Vision Blog, Michael Fassbender has signed on the dotted line and has officially joined X-Men: First Class as the X-Men's arch-nemesis Magneto. He had also been courted as playing a villain in the Spider-Man movie relaunch.

Fassbender will join the previously announced James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, and Benjamin Walker in the role of Beast.
[Heat Vision Blog]

Michael Fassbender has gotten his big break in the recent Quentin Tarentino movie Inglorious Basterds, and he has shown that he can be quite charismatic. My question is could he be as good a Magneto as Sir Ian McKellen, or could he be even better?

First Picture of the New Primeval Cast!

Filming for season four of Primeval has recently wrapped and here is the first picture showing some new cast members and some returning ones.

From left to right we have Abby (Returning - Hannah Spearritt), Connor (Returning - Andrew-Lee Potts), new field leader Matt (New - Ciarán McMenamin), Becker (Returning - Ben Mansfield) and Jess (New - Ruth Kearney).

They are also to be joined by former Star Trek: Deep Space Nine veteran Alexander Siddig, in the role of scientist Philip Burton.

Primeval is a UK Sci-Fi series that airs on ITV. It was cancelled in June 2009 but renewed in a startling move the following September of that year for two more series. It aired on BBC America in the US and on Space in Canada.

The cast is now currently filming series 5.
[Digital Spy]

Series 4 is set to air in January 2011 on ITV1 and will be comprised of 7 episodes while series 5 will have 6.

Need. Me. One. Of. Each.

And the New Director of The Hobbit Will Be . . .

Well, according to Heat Vision Blog, the new director for the two The Hobbit movies will be none other than Peter Jackson himself!!!

After Guillermo Del Toro had to step down from directing the movies due to MGM woes and delays, speculations were running wild as to who would direct the prequel to The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Seems the right man for the job may be back at the helm, as Jackson has now entered negotiations to direct the two movies.
 [Heat Vision Blog]

Do you think that Peter Jackson is still the right man to direct The Hobbit or would you rather have a new director at the helm?

List of Saturn Award Winners: Avatar Rules!

The 36th Saturn Awards (which honor movies and TV shows in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genre primarily) were handed over last night.

It was Avatar who basically dominated the awards with ten wins, including Best Picture, Best Writer and Best Director (James Cameron), Best Actor (Sam Worthington), Best Actress (Zoe Saldana), Best supporting Actor (Stephen Lang) and Best Supporting Actress (Sigourney Weaver) - take that Oscars!

Star Trek was recompensed for Best-Makeup and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman received the George Pal Memorial Ward.

Doctor Who 5.13 The Big Bang: Matt Smith Hints the Return of an Important Character!

Matt Smith was on This Morning, and gave a few hints about what to expect on this saturday's series 5 finale of Doctor Who, The Big Bang:
"There's an important character coming back, but I can't say who," he said. "But it is very significant - it's a cracker!

"I watched it and was quite emotional probably because it was the end of the series and we'd worked so hard and we'd got there. I watched it with Karen [Gillan] and we were like, 'Woo hoo!'"
[Digital Spy]

There are many who are speculating that this character is Omega, who was a Time Lord, and an important figure in the history of Gallifrey. He is as important as Rassilon (who recently appeared in The End of Time, played by Timothy Dalton) and is the co-founder of Time Lord society. You can go and read about him here.

If this is the character that's returning, there are theories or rather spoilers as to who may play him and you can go read up on it here.

Only one day to go!

How excited are you about the upcoming finale?

Steven Moffat Talks Doctor Who Finale and Series 6

After last week's episode of Doctor Who, which left us with the mother of all cliffhangers at the end of The Pandorica Opens, it's normal we are curious to know what will happen next. After all, things looked mighty dire.

Moffat was recently interviewed for Tube Talk on Digital Spy and he had a few interesting things to say, especially about the finale, and if he'd planned it from the start:

Casting News For Being Human Season Three

On the heels of the casting news of Eastender's Lacey Turner, now British actor Robson Green (Wire in the Blood, Northern Lights) has joined the cast of Being Human as a werewolf.

Apparently, a source said that “Robson’s a huge admirer and was delighted to get involved. It’s a big departure from dramas he’s been in like Wire In The Blood and Northern Lights.”
[SFX]

Being Human Season 3 will return in January 2011 and is now currently being filmed in Wales.

BBC Comic-Con Details - Doctor Who and Being Human

The BBC has released it's San Diego Comic-Con 2010 program.

There will be a Being Human panel with the entire Being Human cast there. However, they're wont be any Doctor Who cast member present and this really makes me sad.

Here are the details:

The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 4 Episode Titles Revealed

In somewhat Doctor Who related news this mornings, the titles for series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures have been released in Doctor Who magazine. They are:

Episode 1- The Nightmare Man - written by Joseph Lidster

Episode 2- The Vault of Secrets - written by Phil Ford

Episode 3- Death of the Doctor - written by Russel T. Davies and featuring Matt Smith an the Doctor and Katy Manning as former Doctor Who Companion Jo Grant.

Episode 4- The Empty Planet - written by Gareth Roberts

Episode 5- Lost in Time - written by Rupert Laight

Episode 6- Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith - written by Gareth Roberts and Clayton Hickman

[atvtoday]

I'm not sure I'm liking the title for the Matt Smith featured episode titled Death of the Doctor. . . However, it will mark the first time former Doctor Who showrunner Russel T. Davies will write for the Eleventh Doctor.

True Blood's Sookie and Eric to Hook up Early?

Seems like an Eric and Sookie pairing may happen sooner than expected.

Mickey O'connor, senior editor at TVGuide.com has hinted that it may happen sooner rather than later. When asked when the pairing of everyone's favourite viking vampire and telepathic waitress would take place, he had this to say:

This new Conan picture is from Nu Boyana Film Studios, the film's official production company, and it shows star Jason Momoa (Ronon Dex in Stargate Atlantis), in the role of Conan.

The famous barbarian was created by Robert E. Howard, and was previously played in two 1980s movies by now Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Info on David Tennant's Role in the Fright Night Movie Remake

Recently, David Tennant was added to the cast of the Fright Night movie remake, which stars Anton Yelchin as Charlie Brewster, Toni Colette as his mother Jane and Colin Farrell as his new handsome vampire neighboor Jerry.

Tennant plays Peter Vincent, role that was originally played by Roddy McDowall in the original movie. //Film has some information on the role:
We know that David Tennant from Dr. Who is playing Peter Vincent, the showman and pseudo-expert on vampires that Charlie recruits to help fight Jerry. The character has a smaller role here than in the original, but there’s an interesting possibility in the script that could lead to Tennant fans getting a pretty neat performance out of him. I’m not sure if that angle is going to be treated as the script suggests it should.
[//Film]

I'm rather sad to hear that the role will be less substantial in the remake than it was in the original. However, I'm sure David Tennant will be splendid in it.

The movie will be in 3D and is set to be released on October 7, 2011

Doctor Who 5.13 The Big Bang Preview

Tim Kring Talks About Heroes

Over at EW Online, and a few weeks after NBC cancelled the show, Tim Kring talked about Heroes and whether or not there's a TV movie in the works for next season:
No decision has been made. But the Heroes brand is an extremely broad premise. It was a premise about ordinary people, an undisclosed number of people all over the world, who were waking up to these extraordinary abilities. Any number of stories could happen around that. We never posited a single ending or a single premise. It wasn’t about getting off of an island or stopping something from happening. We told stories in volumes that had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Those volumes could go on and on and on with many different characters. As a result, that Heroes universe is something that can be tapped into again in many ways. Certainly, a movie is a way to do that and clearly, there is an entire world and a number of platforms that this property could live in. Movies sometimes need a little distance from the television show.

The show's creator also mentioned that he would be at Comic-Con this year to talk about his new project, Conspiracy for Good, a new book, and about Heroes.

Go here to read the entire interview.

Short New Trailer for Doctor Who Series Finale

Sci-Fi TV News Roundup

There were two important pieces of Sci-Fi tv news yesterday that I didn't have time to properly talk about regarding True Blood and Stargate Universe:

True Blood:

My favourite Vampire Series, True Blood, has been renewed for a fourth season by HBO.

The fourth book is my favourite in the series because an amnesiac Eric and Sookie finally hook up and do the very, very, dirty deed. Often.

The only downside? It wont air until June 2011. Booo.

[HBO]

Stargate Universe:

Robert C. Cooper, co-creator and showrunner of Stargate Universe, is departing the series he's been on for the past 14 years. This year's Comic-Con will mark his final appearance.

Doctor Who 5.13 The Big Bang Spoilers

There's a collection of bits and snippets from the upcoming finale of series 5 of Doctor Who, The Big Bang, on Blogtor Who. They are taken from TV Guide and TV & Satellite Week:

• Matt stated that his call sheet throughout shooting the previous 12 episodes included additional scenes for the finale. "When we were doing Flesh & Stone, I'd get to the end of the day and realise that I'd got to do this extra sequence that I had no idea about. All I know is I've got to be quite concerned about Amy."

• When asked "Is Amy OK?" Matt says: "She's dead but Rory is still around. That's all I can tell you."

• When asked about River Song, Matt comments: "There is a a scene near the end of the episode where River Song and The Doctor have a little chat about the exact nature of their relationship"

• Filming on Christmas Special starts on July 12. It's the "most Christmassy special there'll ever be" with an equally special cast list.

Happy Birthday The Inside Trekker!

Well there it is. My blog's very own 1st year anniversay! And I almost missed it! Haha!

All I can say is that when I started The Inside Trekker a year ago, it was in prevision of my first Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas, which I wanted to cover. I had no idea how it would grow and transform!

I want to take the opportunity to  thank everyone for their support, and for coming here. Without you, The Inside Trekker wouldn't exist.

Let's hope for many more years to come!

More News on Being Human Series 3!

Right from Being Human's creator Toby Whithouse himself, comes more news from the upcoming series 3 of the BBC Three hit supernatural drama.

Coming from SFX Magazine again, here is what Whithouse revealed about series - or season - 3:
“Season 3. Firstly I approve of our adoption of the American term ’season’ for what we used to call a ’series’. Even though in the States, as series really does last the the length of a season. Whereas over here our series’ are much shorter. I mean how many seasons in Britain last just 6 to 8 weeks?! Apart from summer, obviously. Anyway, usually I hate the way English has become so wantonly Americanised, but this I like. So carry on.

Doctor Who 5.12 The Pandorica Opens Review

“There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior. A nameless terrible thing soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the Cosmos. And nothing could stop it or hold it or reason with it. One day, it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.” - The Doctor

The Doctor looking at the Oldest Graffiti Ever: And it's a message from our favourite mystery lady!

Brilliant. Fantastic. Explosive. In short OMG!!!

What else can be said about the penultimate episode of series 5 of Doctor Who? Well plenty, and as I pretty much said last week, the shit has most definitely hit the fan! There was action and discoveries and some very emotional moments topped by an amazing cliffhanger. But there were also some humorous and romantic bits as well.

X-Men: First Class Casts it's First X-Man

According to Showbiz 411, The First actor cast in the role of one of Charles Xavier's students in the school for gifted youngsters is a stage actor named Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers) who is currently starring in the Public Theater’s 'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson'.

Walker will play the role of Beast (A.K.A. Dr. Hank McCoy), which was previously played by Kelsey Grammer in the third X-Men film.

I've never really heard anything about Benjamin Walker until today but apparently he's 'the hottest newcomer in New York theater this season.'

X-Men: First Class - Young Magneto Almost Cast?

Could we have a new Magneto signed up soon? Heat Vision Blog reports that early discussions between Fox studio and actor Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds, Jonah Hex), for the role of Magneto in X-Men: First Class, have begun.

The movie is getting prepped for a shooting start in august and will be directed by Matthew Vaughn.

If Fassbender signs on the dotted line, he will share the screen with James McAvoy, who has already been cast as a young Charles Xavier.

Still not saturday yet? I really need my own Tardis.

Matt Smith Teasing New Doctor Who Costume?

There was a recent press screening of The Pandorica Opens and Matt Smith teased the possibility that he may be wearing a new outfit for next year's series 6 of Doctor Who:
There are five or six of us involved in that process - I was involved. Actually I went to a costume fitting this very morning for next year, which was very interesting!

I've just heard, basically, 'Tell him he can't have a hat unless it's written down that he has a hat!'. So let's see. There's going to be a whole back and forth now.
Smith also added that:
I've always said that I think it will evolve but I'm very pleased that the costume feels it has an element of the professor.

But just practically, we film in November and it's freezing! And just a tweed jacket can get a bit cold, so who knows...
[Digital Spy]

I'm thinking the fitting is not about an entirely new costume but rather perhaps a variation of it, like when David Tennant 's Tenth Doctor started wearing a blue suit. Or, most likely, it could be for a new coat. I do remember Smith previously mentioning that he'd like to have one for his Doctor.

Anyone liking the idea of Doctor Eleven possibly having an entirely new outfit?

Torchwood: Los Angeles

It's not much, but it's a bit of news for Torchwood fans!

According to Ausiello, a good chunk of Series 4 of the Starz/BBC produced Torchwood will film on location in Los Angeles! I wonder if Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) will shed a few clothes while there . . . maybe get a sun tan?

[Ask Ausiello]
