Neil McDonough to Join Captain America: The First Avenger?

Well the Marvel casting news and rumours just keep on coming these days!

This time, the casting news is for Captain America: The First Avenger. Former Desperate Housewives and Star Trek: First Contact actor Neil McDonough is in talks to play S.H.I.E.L.D officer Dum Dum Dugan, who wears a trademark bowler hat (go here for more on the character).

Deadline says:

Add Neal McDonough to the list of cast for Captain America: The First Avenger, the Joe Johnston-directed film that will star Chris Evans. McDonough is in talks to play Dum Dum Dugan. Marvel Studios was playing dum on it. Production starts in July in the U.K. and the film will be released by Paramount Pictures July 22, 2011. Hugo Weaving plays the villain, Red Skull. Sebastian Stan and Hayley Atwell have also been set. McDonough is available, as he famously exited the series Scoundrels because of his reluctance to do love scenes.

Neil McDonough is an interesting casting choice for the character since the 44 year old actor has proven he's got the soldier's attitude down when he played 1st Lt. Lynn 'Buck' Compton in Band of Brothers (never mind the character later suffered a breakdown).

Do you like the idea of possibly having McDonough on board Captain America?
