BBC Confirms Guest Stars for the Doctor Who Christmas Episode!

The BBC has issued a press release teasing the fans about what's coming up for the Christmas episode of Doctor Who.

Production starts today (Monday 12 July) on the 2010 Doctor Who BBC One Christmas Special in which the thrilling adventures of the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) and newlyweds Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) will continue in a fun-filled and heartfelt festive story.

In the grand tradition of Doctor Who Christmas specials, this year the show has once again attracted stellar guest stars as veteran actor Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, The Singing Detective) and opera diva Katherine Jenkins, in her first acting role, join the Time Lord for what might be his most Christmassy adventure yet!

And so, Amy and Rory will be joining the Doctor in the Christmas fun, the first time since the 2005 Christmas episode The Christmas Invasion, which marked David Tennant's first episode as the Doctor.

The addition of Michael Gambon for the Christmas episode is an awesome casting coup, and I can't wait to see which character the actor will play. Apparently, he and Katherine Jenkins will play major roles in the special episode.

Edward Norton Officially Out of The Avengers! Replacement Announced at Comic-Con?

It's official. Edward Norton will not be returning to the role of Bruce Banner / Hulk in the upcoming The Avengers movie.

Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige forwarded the following exclusive reply to HitFix from the set of Captain America: The First Avenger in London.

Doctor Who Graphic Novel: The Only Good Dalek

The BBC will release an all new original Doctor Who story in Graphic Novel form titled The Only Good Dalek from Justin Richards and Mike Collins. It will be the BBC's first graphic novel and will be released on September 16th in the UK.

Get the First Issue of the Torchwood Comic at Comic-Con!

Co-Written by actor John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness himself) and his sister Carol E. Barrowman, and illustrated by renowned artist Tommy Lee Edwards, the first issue of the Torchwood comic will be available first exclusively to the San Diego International Comic-Con 2010 attendees.

Batman 3 To Start Filming Next April

Actor Michael Caine, who plays Bruce Wayne's buttler and friend Alfred Pennyworth in Christoper Nolan's Batman movies, has told Digital Spy that he believes filming on the third movie is set to begin in April 2011: "I think they're going to do it in April, that's about as much as I know."

However, he doesn't seem to be sure whether his character's coming back or not for the third Batman outing - let's bet that he does, shall we?

X-Men: First Class Casts Two New Mutants!

First off, in the wake of Benjamin Walker's departure, the role of Beast has been offered to Nicholas Hoult who is most known for his role in About a Boy with Hugh Grant. He most recently appeared in Clash of the Titans and has signed on the be in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Second, young Caleb Landry Jones has landed the role of Banshee, a.k.a Sean Cassidy, a mutant that uses a sonic scream which allows him to paralyze his enemies and to fly. Jones is practically a newcomer, having appeared in only a handful of roles including the TV series Friday Night Lights and the upcoming movie The Last Exorcism.

The studio has definitely gone younger with Hoult who is not yet 21 (Walker was 28 and considered too old) and Jones who is also 21. In comparison, James McAvoy, who plays X-Men founder and mentor Charles Xavier, is 31.

'Lost' Actor Cast in SyFy's Version of Being Human!!

Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural), the actor who keeps stealing almost all the scenes he's in, has been cast in a leading role on SyFy's US version of Being Human!

Based on the British series, Being Human centers on three mismatched twenty-something roommates, Aidan (Sam Witwer), a vampire, Josh, a werewolf and Sally (Meaghan Rath), a ghost. Pellegrino will play Aidan’s charismatic but menacing mentor Bishop. Pellegrino, who played Jacob on Lost and Lucifer on Supernatural, is repped by Domain and Framework.

Could Bishop be the Americanized version of Herrick or is he a completely new character? I'm sure we'll know more as weeks go by.

Comic-Con 2010 News: Smallville Panel Details!

I've never really talked about Smallville before on my blog, but this pertains to Comic-Con news and may interest quite a few of you.

According to Michael Ausiello:

* Tom Welling will be there! The show’s leading man and exec producer will be making his second appearance at the Con.

* Welling will be joined by returning series regulars Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman, and Justin Hartley at the show’s panel on Sunday at 10 am.

* Showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will also be present to answer all your burning question about the show’s 10th and final season.

* Did I mention acclaimed Smallville writer Geoff Johns will be moderating said panel discussion?

* Last but not least: You’ll be treated to an exclusive first look at the season premiere!

The panel will take place on July 25th. I may go take a peek if it doesn't conflict with anything else since this will be the last time Smallville will have a presence at Comic-Con since the show is entering it's final season this fall.

The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 5 Set Report and News!

Primeval Series 4 and 5: What We Know

Since there's not much recent news concerning the upcoming Series 4 and 5 of Primeval at the moment, I've decided to scour the net in search of tidbits here and there and post a résumé of news and pictures and put them up here.

The new Primeval cast: From left to right we have Abby  (Hannah Spearritt), Connor (Andrew-Lee Potts),  Matt (Ciarán McMenamin), Becker (Ben Mansfield) and Jess (Ruth Kearney).

Filming for Series 4 has recently just wrapped, the cast and crew are now currently shooting series 5 until November 2010.

Steven Moffat's Sherlock: First Pictures!

What a great way to start the morning, the first two official pictures of Steven Moffat's other project, Sherlock, are now online!

The BBC has released these two great shots of actors Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson. The show is still a few months away from airing on tv.
