Doctor Who in Paley Center: Interesting Tidbits

Yesterday, Steven Moffat, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan were on hand in New York City's Paley Center to answer questions from journalists and to premiere the first episode of Doctor Who Series 5 titled ''The Eleventh Hour ''which airs this saturday, April 17, in North America.

Io9 was there to get interviews and in the process they got a few interesting tidbits from the Doctor Who gang. Amongst them:

Doctor Who ''The Eleventh Hour'' Draws in 8.4 Million Viewers

The numbers are in! More than 8.4 Million Viewers in the UK tuned in to watch Doctor Who and Matt Smith and Karen Gillan's first outing as the Doctor and his companion Amy Pond.

According to the BBC, David Tennant's first outing as the Doctor also drew in about 8 million viewers while his exit on january 1st 2010 drew in 10.4 million viewers. [BBC News]

All in all, it's really a great start to the show now under new management with Steven Moffat as show runner.

Den of Geek has posted a new gallery of pictures from The Eleventh Hour, the upcoming premiere episode of Series 5 of Doctor Who airing this saturday on BBC One and BBC HD (April 17 in the US and Canada).

There are many new pictures of the Doctor (Matt Smith), his newest companion Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and her boyfriend Rory (played by Arthur Darvill) as well as young Amy (Caitlin Blackwood).
