Captain America's Love Found! British Actress Cast
Seems like the search for Captain America's love, Peggy Carter, has ended. Little known (on this side of the pond at least) British actress Hayley Atwell has apparently won the coveted role. The news has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision.
The character Atwell will play is named Peggy Carter, who in comics lore not only dated Captain America but was an agent helping the French Resistance. She later became the aunt of Sharon Carter, Captain America’s love in modern times.

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige will produce "The First Avenger: Captain America." Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel, Stratton Leopold and Louis D'Esposito will executive produce. The film will be released in the US on July 22, 2011 and distributed by Paramount Pictures.

He recently wrapped production on "Puncture" and he will soon start production on "What's Your Number." Stay tuned to Marvel.com for the official word on all things to do with "The First Avenger: Captain America" and all Marvel movies! [Marvel]
I'm surprised that Marvel chose to keep the sidekick since this avenue has proven detrimental before in the case of the Batman movies (before Chris Nolan took up the franchise). I hope it wont turn out to be too syrupy or corny.
While I like Chris Evans and find him well-suited for the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America, however I don't know Sebastian Stan all that well so I can't say anything about his casting.
Here's hoping the movie will be great.

Chris Evans IS Officially Captain America!!

It had already been reported last friday that the role had been offered to the actor but that he had previous movie commitments that stopped him from accepting the role right away.
It now seems that things moved swiftly over the weekend and that all that remains is signing the deal.
Chris is no stranger to the role of Marvel superhero since he played Johnny Storm, A.K.A the Human Torch in the two Fantastic Four movies.
Though I had hoped to either see Supernatural's Jensen Ackles or Chuck's own Captain Awesome, actor Ryan McPartlin, in the role of Steve Rogers, I am perfectly comfortable with the idea of seeing Evans play The First Avenger. As of now Marvel Studios has not let us down.
What do you guys think of that casting decision? Is Chris Evans fit to wield ol' Captain's Shield?
