Mark Ruffalo to actually PLAY the Hulk in The Avengers!

Good news one and all! Not only is actor Mark Ruffalo going to play Bruce Banner in the upcoming Avengers movie but he will also play his green counterpart in a motion-capture performance!

Where the Hulk was solely computer generated in his last two outings (we're talking Eric Bana's Hulk and Edward Norton's The Incredible Hulk – NOT The Incredible Hulk TV series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno) this time the green hero will be the result of the performance of his main protagonist in actor Mark Ruffalo.

'The Avengers' To Start Filming in Early 2011!

Now that The Avengers team is assembled, all we were waiting for was a start date for the filming of the eagerly anticipated Marvel movie.

Well, according to SuperHeroHype, The Avengers will start filming early next year - more exactly in February! It will begin shooting a mere few months after the start of filming of another little superhero movie, namely Sony's untitled-as-of-yet Spiderman reboot.

The Avengers is directed by Buffy and Angel Mastermind Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson.

The movie is expected to shoot in Los Angeles.

The Avengers is set to be directed by Joss Whedon and will star Robert Downey Jr (Tony Stark / Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers / Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner / Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton / Hawkeye), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlet Johansson (Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow).

The movie is set to be released on May 4, 2012.

New Name Actor Rumoured for Hulk Role in 'The Avengers'!

And his name is Mark Ruffalo!

After the David Tennant/Adrian Brody/ Joaquin Phoenix/ Nathan Fillion story/rumour, Deadline now reports that Mark Ruffalo is in talks to play Bruce Banner a.k.a the Incredible Hulk, in The Avengers movie.

Apparently, the actor is in late-stage discussions between Marvel and his new talent agency United Talent.

Seriously, my head is spinning with all these rumours. I don't know what to make of all of them and frankly, until it's officially announced, anything can go. And though I think Ruffalo is a great actor, I just don't see it. But that's just me.

David Tennant Rumoured for High Profile 'The Avengers' Role!

The Los Angeles Times has listed David Tennant as being a possible replacement for Edward Norton in the role of Bruce Banner / Hulk for the upcoming The Avengers movie.

If true, this would be a fantastic role for Tennant, who is best known the world over as the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who.

Other names bandied about are Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody and Nathan Fillion.

David Tennant is an absolutely marvellous actor and would be ideal in the role, but please bear in mind that it's a rumour.

Nothing will be officially announced until next week's Comic-Con, where everyone expects Marvel to reveal who will play the Hulk on The Avengers.

Phoenix to Rise as The Hulk?

In an interesting piece of news, it appears that Joaquin Phoenix is being courted for the role of Bruce Banner in the upcoming The Avengers movie!

This is in the wake of Marvel's confirmation that it would not ask Edward Norton back in the role.

CHUD claims that reliable sources have told them that Marvel has offered the role to the actor. But nothing has been confirmed one way or the other so take it as a RUMOUR for the moment.

Jeremy Renner Most Likely to Play Hawkeye in The Avengers

Remember that rumour about Josh Holoway (LOST) apparently being in talks with Marvel for a role in The Avengers? Remember that Hawkeye was one of the possible characters that he could be in the running for? Well I guess we can cross that name off the list of potential characters Holloway may get to play, if the rumours are true in the first place of course.

According to HeatVision, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), who has long be rumoured as the favourite to play Hawkeye in the upcoming The Avengers movie, is now apparently in final negotiations to play the role of the archer hero, who started out as a villain, only to be brought back into the right fold.

Josh Holloway in Talks for The Avengers?

There is a story currently over at Avenger News that Josh Holloway, the hunky actor who played Sawyer on Lost, is in talks to play a role in the upcoming Avengers movie:

 Sorry for the bad joke, but we received this interesting tidbit about “LOST” star Josh Holloway over the weekend. Apparently there’s been talk between Marvel and his group to play a “lead” role in an upcoming Marvel film. We mention a “lead” role because these bigger actors often won’t sign “retainers”, meaning everything should be 100% locked (character, film, etc) for Josh once he’s signed the dotted line. We have no idea who he could be playing or how soon he could sign, but here are some of our thoughts we've compiled with the subtle hints we've received.
