George Takei sounds off on possible Star Trek movie cameos in the future

Happy 44th Birthday Star Trek!!!

On September 8 1966, a little show called Star Trek aired it's first episode titled The Man Trap. The series would air it's last episode three years later on June 3 1969.

The beloved sci-fi show created by the Great Bird, Gene Roddenberry, would later go on to spawn another four series and a total of eleven movies to this day.

Zachary Quinto and Michael McMillian Working on Comic Book 'Lucid'

Former Heroes star Zachary Quinto (Sylar) and Michael McMillian (Reverend Steve Newlin, True Blood) are currently hard at work on a new comic book series called Lucid.

The four issue mini-series is being published by Archaia Comics and Quinto's Before the Door Pictures will overlook the book's production. McMillian will be writing the story.

List of Saturn Award Winners: Avatar Rules!

The 36th Saturn Awards (which honor movies and TV shows in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genre primarily) were handed over last night.

It was Avatar who basically dominated the awards with ten wins, including Best Picture, Best Writer and Best Director (James Cameron), Best Actor (Sam Worthington), Best Actress (Zoe Saldana), Best supporting Actor (Stephen Lang) and Best Supporting Actress (Sigourney Weaver) - take that Oscars!

Star Trek was recompensed for Best-Makeup and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman received the George Pal Memorial Ward.

Star Trek's Captain Robau to Guest Star on Warehouse 13!

Faran Tahir, who played Captain Robau in 2009's Star Trek, will appear in a few episodes of SyFy's hit series Warehouse 13. According to Ausiello:

Tahir will appear in at least two episodes of the Syfy hit’s upcoming season as Adwin Kosan, one of the mysterious and powerful Regents tasked with keeping the Warehouse safe. Adwin, who arrives to handle an escalating crisis, makes a shocking pronouncement that threatens to tear apart the team.

Tahir joins fellow Star Trek alum René Auberjonois (Odo from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), as well as a list of impressive guest-stars for the second season of Warehouse 13, including Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman), Jewel Staite (Firefly, Stargate Atlantis), and Sean Maher (Firefly), Neil Greystone (Eureka), and Paula Garces (Defying Gravity).

Warehouse 13 will premiere on SyFy July 6.

Neil McDonough to Join Captain America: The First Avenger?

Well the Marvel casting news and rumours just keep on coming these days!

This time, the casting news is for Captain America: The First Avenger. Former Desperate Housewives and Star Trek: First Contact actor Neil McDonough is in talks to play S.H.I.E.L.D officer Dum Dum Dugan, who wears a trademark bowler hat (go here for more on the character).

Rod Roddenberry's ''Trek Nation'' Trailer

Rod Roddenberry, son of the late Gene Roddenberry, creator of Star Trek, is making his own Star Trek documentary called Trek Nation.

Roddenberry has a lot of famous Star Trek actors, writers and producers lined up to comment for Trek Nation. Amongst them are J.J. Abrams, Jonathan Frakes, Nichelle Nichols, Marina Sirtis, Patrick Stewart and Wil Wheaton to name a few. Other non Star Trek guests include Seth McFarlane (who often featured and parodied Star Trek in his Family Guy TV show), George Lucas and Stan Lee.

It looks pretty awesome don't you think? I wonder how deep they will go into the philosophy, history and fan culture of Star Trek for the documentary.

Leonard Nimoy Confirms his Retirement from Acting

In a recent interview given to the Toronto Sun, Leonard Nimoy once again confirmed that he is indeed retiring from acting, and that we shouldn't expect to see him in the Star Trek sequel (due out in 2012)or anywhere else for that matter.

Zachary Quinto: Leonard Nimoy is Not Doing Another Star Trek

Actor Zachary Quinto was in New York last night for WET Production's "Stars Give Love" benefit performance of short plays which took place at the Lower East Side's Angel Orensanz Foundation.

Quinto is most famous for playing bad-boy-turned-good-guy Sylar on NBC's Heroes, and was catapulted to movie stardom by playing the newest incarnation of one of Star Trek's most iconic characters: Vulcan science officer Spock, in JJ Abram's 2009 Star Trek movie, which successfully revived the franchise.

The Hugo Awards are awards for excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy. They were first awarded in 1953, and have been awarded every year since 1955. [AussieCon4]

These awards are set to be presented in Melbourne, Australia, at Aussicon 4 - the 68th World Science Fiction Convention - on September 5, 2010.

Leonard Nimoy: from Spock to Transformer

Actor Leonard Nimoy may have given up playing Spock forever on the big or small screen, and he may retire from acting altogether after Fringe, but in the meanwhile the actor will be providing his voice for the character of Zeta Prime in the upcoming game Transformers: War for Cybertron.

Zeta Prime is the predecessor of Optimus Prime, leader of the autobots, still voiced by Peter Cullen (in both the series and the new movies).

Leonard Nimoy also voiced a Decepticon called Galvatron in 1986's Transformers: The movie. Nimoy also provided some voice work as Spock Prime for the recently released Star Trek Online MMORPG game.

Transformers: War for Cybertron will be released June 22 for PS3, Wii, XBox 360 and PC

Uhura to Kick Ass in the upcoming Star Trek Sequel

While giving interviews for her upcoming movie The Losers, Zoe Saldana, whose Sci-Fi cred includes both Star Trek and Avatar, talked to HitFix about what will be coming up for her character, Nyota Uhura.

In "Star Trek" I had so much fun, but the boys had all the action. J.J. promised me in the sequel she will have at least one little fight. At least kick a guy in the groin or something.

Over at SuperHeroHype, the beautiful actress talked further about her excitement in regards to her returning to the Star Trek world with the upcoming sequel.

Well, they're perks. Besides the financial perks of signing onto films that turn into franchises is that you get to work with the actors and the directors all over again. Sometimes I almost feel like a three month experience for something that will last forever is not fair for the actor. Because what you guys get to watch, that's for you. The part of shooting the movie, that's for me. I take all those memories and that experience with me. And to get to go back to "Star Trek" and see Chris' baby blue eyes and get to kiss Spock, Zachary [Quinto] and to work with J.J. [Abrams] I couldn't have been in a better environment from the writers to the producers, etc. To get to relive that experience in another adventure in space. I'm not looking forward to the dress though. It just means I have to hit the gym two months before we start shooting, so I'm not looking forward to that.

(As an aside I need to say: You don't need to go to the Gym Zoe!)

No start date has been given yet for the Star Trek Sequel - and the movie is listed as only being in treatment as of today. Still, the movie is set to be released in 2012.

I think it will be nice to have a woman kick ass in the upcoming Star Trek movie. After all, the boys can't be having all the fun!
