Okay! Hum, Wow. First things first, that Series 5 finale was rather surprising and not at all what I expected it to be. In fact, it could not have been more different in tone to the episode that preceded it.

What else can be said about the penultimate episode of series 5 of Doctor Who? Well plenty, and as I pretty much said last week, the shit has most definitely hit the fan! There was action and discoveries and some very emotional moments topped by an amazing cliffhanger. But there were also some humorous and romantic bits as well.

Written by Gareth Roberts (The Shakespeare Code, The Unicorn and the Wasp and Planet of the Dead), this week's Doctor Who episode, titled The Lodger, offers a different contrast to the last two weeks' tearjerkers with it's light comedic and romantic overtones. But it wouldn't be Doctor Who if it didn't have some dark, terrifying danger lurking in the shadows, and this week was no different.

Doctor Who 5.10 Vincent and The Doctor Review

Written by Richard Curtis, who created Blackadder and gave us such classic fares as Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, the very funny series The Vicar of Dibley, and Love Actually, I was almost expecting Vincent and The Doctor to be a funny and light romp. But the episode turned out to be anything but that.

Doctor Who 5.08 The Hungry Earth Review

Written by Chris Chibnall, who last wrote the underrated series 3 episode 42, The Hungry Earth is the first part of a two-part story that features the return of a classic Doctor Who monster, the Silurians. I believe that the time was ripe for their return, and I wouldn't mind Steven Moffat revisiting a few other classic monsters in the next series if possible, like the Zygons, for example.

Doctor Who 5.06 The Vampires of Venice Review

After the last incredible two-parter written by Steven Moffat, Being Human writer/creator Toby Whithouse had his work cut out for him, to say the least, for this week's episode. Surely, a lesser writer would have been daunted by the task, but not Whithouse. As a stand-alone episode, The Vampires of Venice is a fantastic story; well written, well-crafted, and well-acted. Once can almost see this episode as a character piece. As part of an ongoing story arc, it adds more information concerning the crack in time storyline that's been prevalent since episode 1, and it also ushers you in to the next chapter. I will get back to it later.

Doctor Who - The Time of Angels Inside Trekker Review

This episode was fantastic. Just bloody fantastic (I'm saying this in my best British accent so you know).

Doctor Who ''Victory of the Daleks'' Inside Trekker Review

Victory of the Daleks is written by Mark Gatiss who also previously wrote the fantastic ''The Unquiet Dead'' and the less so ''The Idiot's Lantern.'' This episode unfortunately suffers a bit compared to the previous two ones but is still none-the-less an interesting romp. As a stand-alone Dalek themed episode, it will undoubtedly be compared to ''Dalek'', the series great 1 episode written by Robert Shearman.
