New The Sarah Jane Adventures 'Death of the Doctor' episode info

Some informations regarding the upcoming special episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures featuring the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith), Death of the Doctor, have just been released and it looks that it will be a fun one, filled with reminiscing and, in all probability, its share of nostalgia.

We still have a few months to go until we get a new proper Doctor Who episode with the upcoming yearly Christmas special, but we'll get to see the Doctor a bit sooner in Death of the Doctor, an upcoming episode from series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures, written by Russell T Davies himself.

Steven Moffat says No Daleks for Series 6 of Doctor Who

So no Daleks for series 6 of Doctor Who? That's apparently what will happen (or not happen depending on how you see it) according to the Moff himself.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has indicated that there are no plans to have the Doctor's most famous enemies return for the next series, though production is not yet complete.

'Torchwood: The New World' - Russell T Davies Talks Captain Jack's Return, his Love Life, and More!

Russell T Davies made further revelations about Series 4 of Torchwood: The New World  - which doesn't start filming until next January - during the Television Critics Association fall press tour.

For one thing, according to Davies :

It's [the 10-part storyline] far more complicated than just a monster. I think it's a brilliant idea, and when you hear it, it will make sense and you'll see how big it is. It could have filled 20 hours. It's a big 10-hour story.

'Torchwood' Series 4 Writers Revealed and I'm Impressed!

The Chicago Tribune has a story on Torchwood Series 4 and it reveals the names of four other writers that will join Russel T Davies in penning the 10-part series that will begin filming early in 2011, and will air the following summer on Starz.

Along with Russel T Davies, who will pen several of the episodes as befit the showrunner, the new writers are:

SFX Magazine teases that inside Issue 199 of the Magazine, Russell T. Davies says about series four of Torchwood that “It’s a proper, big, global ten-hour thriller.”

Never have I been more excited for Torchwood to return. But alas, the series wont make a come back until late 2011.

Basically this will turn into one long excruciating wait. Any one else agree?

Steven Moffat Talks Doctor Who Finale and Series 6

After last week's episode of Doctor Who, which left us with the mother of all cliffhangers at the end of The Pandorica Opens, it's normal we are curious to know what will happen next. After all, things looked mighty dire.

Moffat was recently interviewed for Tube Talk on Digital Spy and he had a few interesting things to say, especially about the finale, and if he'd planned it from the start:

Russel T Davies and Chris Albrech Talk Torchwood Series 4!

Torchwood creator and showrunner Russell T. Davies and Starz chief Chris Albrech gave an interview to THR in the wake of the long-awaited announcement that Torchwood is finally coming back for a fourth series.

Asked whether there will be changes in store for the fans in series 4, Chris Albrech had this to say:

Well at the end of "Children of Earth," Torchwood was destroyed, so when we pick up in our world the need for Torchwood arises again. A lot of this story takes place in the U.S. as well with several characters that are in the U.S. intelligence forces and end up teaming up with Gwen and Captain Jack to deal with the situation at hand.

Albrech also confirmed that stories will take place in the UK and the US as well as in other locations.

Torchwood Season 4 Finally Gets the Green Light!!

Finally! Praise the Lord! Halleluja!!

Can you guess I'm happy? (you can't see me but I'm actually doing a happy dance here)

The story just broke over The Guardian UK a few minutes ago that:

John Barrowman and Eve Myles are to return for a fourth series of the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, after the BBC securing funding from the US cable network Starz Entertainment.

Barrowman, as Captain Jack Harkness, and Myles, as Gwen Cooper, will be working along with new cast members on the new 10-part series with a team of writers led by Torchwood's creator, Russell T Davies.

News on the Filming of Torchwood Season 4

Firefox News is reporting that filming has recently wrapped for what is called Torchwood: Season 4. Belief is that filming was for the pilot and not the complete series yet.

We know that Russell T. Davies is working on was has been dubbed Torchwood USA and that it has been picked up by FOX. Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner - both BBC veterans - are executive producing it. So far, so good.

The Sarah Jane Adventures gets a 2 Year Renewal!

It has just been announced that the succesful Doctor Who spinoff, The Sarah Jane Adventures, is getting renewed for 2 more years.

The series will air in the fall of 2010 and the fall of 2011.

That's very good news for the series starring Elizabeth Sladen in the role of former Doctor companion Sarah Jane Smith. The series, along with Torchwood, was created by Doctor Who mastermind Russell T. Davies.

Now, if the BBC could finally make an official announcement for Torchwood!!!

Torchwood to go USA!!

FOX is developping a US version of Torchwood, the sucessful Doctor Who spinoff!

The original creating team of Russell T. Davies and Julie Gardner is on board the project and apparently the sorylines will be more global rather than UK based.

The project is from the BBC Worldwide Production and Davies will be writing the scripts.

It also appears that some of the Torchwood cast - which now limits itself to John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper may star in the US version. Most likely Barrowman will be the ideal candidate.

In my opinion, this is most likely a whole new Torchwood Team based in the USA and definitely not a remake. Captain Jack Harkness may now be saving the world from somewhere in North America. All I can say is WOW!!! This is Big news.

The Unanswered Mysteries of Doctor Who: The End of Time

Over at Io9, they have an interesting article about those mysteries left behind by Russell T. Davies at the end of The End of Time. They even echo some of my own observations, but they bring up even more questions and possible answers.

Russell T. Davies and His Favourite Doctor Who Moments

The Times Online conducted an Interview with Russell T. Davies, former Doctor Who show runner to ask him what his 10 favourite Doctor Moments- in the four years of show running - were.

The first 5 are:

1 Rose and the Doctor’s final goodbye, Doomsday (2006)
The Doctor burns up a sun to say goodbye to Rose. I love this because it happens in the episode where the Daleks and Cybermen meet for the first time. The ultimate intergalactic smackdown — but the whole thing’s a romantic weepie in disguise! Ha ha! After we’d shot it, David and Billie had to go and have a good hug in the van. But I always knew I’d have to split up the Doctor and Rose — they were devoted to each other, there’s no way she’d go and marry King of the Zobulans, or stay at home with mum. So that huge, huge plot of parallel universes — Daleks one side, Cybermen the other, Earth in the middle and all that — only existed to put two characters on either side of a wall. You sort of work backwards, really.

2 Donna and the Doctor meet again, Partners in Crime (2008)
The Doctor meets Donna again — him in the window, her at the door, and they mime the whole scene at each other. How funny were David and Catherine — how much did they grab that scene?! I also love the fact that it’s so perverse — when we cast Catherine, every fan seemed to be in dread of her delivering a comedy Nan- type performance, so to allay all their worries ... I give her the funniest scene ever! Hah.

3 “I think you need a Doctor”, The Parting of the Waves (2005)
Rose has accidentally got the entire power of the Tardis stuck in her head, is losing her mind, and can be saved only by a diagnosis (“You need a doctor”) and treatment (their first kiss) from Chris Eccleston. This is the perversity of DoctorWho — you can clash styles like a hooligan. This show ram- raids genres. Because that’s a great big chunk of An Officer and a Gentleman- style dialogue rammed into the middle of an enormous Dalek invasion of Earth! Not a natural mix, but exciting! Oh I love Doctor Who, I LOVE IT.

4 Grandma has no face, The Idiot’s Lantern (2006)
An ordinary terraced house in 1952. A mysterious knocking on the ceiling. The Doctor and Rose run upstairs, to Gran’s bedroom, burst in, and — she’s got no face! The grandmother has no face!! That’s not gonna be in many Top 10 lists, but that’s the point — it’s terrifying and surreal, but it’s normal, now. In 2004, that would have been Fantasy Highlight of the Year; now, it’s everyday, it’s just another great Doctor Who scene. That’s how much the temperature has raised. Plus, it’s written by Mark Gatiss, whom we adore.

5 The “Oh — so that’s why alien robots were trying to kill Madame de Pompadour! Amazing!” plot-resolution, The Girl in the Fireplace (2006)
Written by Steven Moffat — just in case this becomes me, me, me. Best thing about it is, he loves, she dies, we blub — then in the very last second it’s revealed that the name of the spaceship, which is the motive for the whole plot, is SS Madame de Pompadour. It’s that mash-up again — the Greatest Weepie of All Time suddenly ends in a smack-bang sci-fi Twilight Zone plot twist.

Thoughts on The End of Time

After seing The End of Time, the Opus of the David Tennant/Russell T. Davies Era of Doctor Who, I felt there's a few things I needed to share. There are questions that linger on my mind following the finale.

First, I need to say that I was relieved that part 2 was better than part 1 which I thought was a bit slow. The Resurrection of The Master - at least it's method - was on the tad ridiculous and so was his plan. Allright, the Master is insane. I get it. But couldn't Russell T. Davies have come up with something better?

Who was the mystery woman Wilf was seeing? Claire Bloom played a mystery woman simply called The Woman in the end credits who appeared to Wilf on a few occasions during The End of Time 2-parter. When the Doctor finally saw her in the final episode, he recognized her. Are we to understand this was an older incarnation of Rose? Did she find her way, along with Meta-Crisis Ten, to Gallifrey before the Time War, then became a Time Lady in her own right and was checking in on her beloved Doctor? Remember how she also appeared to Wilf on television and she did mention that she had been lost once, much like Rose was when she ended up in the parallel universe. Others have been pointing at Donna who still has the mind of a Time Lord locked away in her head. Or maybe it could even be the Doctor's Granddaughter Susan or even Romana! I wish Davies had not left that open. Only time and subsequent Doctor Who Show runners will tell.

Though I'm not a Martha Jones or Mickey Smith fan, I have to said I was grinning no end at the idea that the two of them had tied the knot following the event of Journey's End. Somehow, I find it fitting that Martha would fall for the much improved Mickey Smith. And so Martha Jones married a Smith. Now put them both in Torchwood. They were bad ass.

The Master sacrificing himself to save the Doctor. Okay, maybe he was really angry at the Time Lords who put the sound of the heartbeat of a Time Lord in his head. Have I said that John Simm was brilliant as the Master? if I haven't, there it is. There was a real chemistry between him and David Tennant. However, I'm disappointed to see him get locked with the other Time Lords in the Time War on Gallifrey, but it made for a hell of a spectacular scene. I hope Moffat will bring him back again at some point.

Wilf and Donna being ordinary? The Doctor has been mentionning how important both Donna and Wilf were. Donna kept running into the Doctor and Wilf found a man most people spend a lifetime looking for in a few hours. In the end, absolutely NO answer was given. This is one thing I hate about Davies, he dangles something in front of our eyes and conveniently forgets about it. I was also disappointed about Donna's lack of appearance. I love Donna, and as the best companion (in my humble opinion) she should have had a better send off. Still, I'm happy she's getting married, and getting money (don't lose that ticket Donna!).

The Lord-President referencing to the Weeping Angels was goose bump inducing. Specially since we know that Steven Moffat is bringing them back for series 5. Did you also notice the 'weeping angels' pose the mysterious Time Lady and Mystery Time Lord (he was yet to be revealed)behind the Lord President were taking? Which brings me to say that it was a waste of the Time Lords. Can we finally get a proper look at that Time-War? And why in the world would you want to make the Time-Lords even bigger megalo-maniacs than the Master. I'm disappointed in this.

And the Lord President is Rassilon!!! One word, just one word uttered by the Doctor. There it is, the first of the Time Lords in all his Timothy Dalton glory!

The Doctor visiting is old companion was a lovely touch. I was smiling broadly when the Doctor introduced Captain Jack to Alonso Frame. I wish I'd seen more of them though. I was almost expecting Captain Jack to show it by the middle of the episode to help the Doctor but alas, it didn't happen.

The Doctor seeing Rose for the last time was sweet but very disappointing. The woman he loves got 2 minutes of screen time? He didn't even say he loved her? WASTED opportunity there. Yes, she'll live happily with Meta-Crisis Ten but this was Proper Ten's chance to SAY it.

David Tennant was brilliant. Brilliant, wonderful, incredible, fantastic, amazing, beautiful, gorgeous etc.etc. That man can act his little heart out I say. My God. He gave it his all, I find no fault in him or his performance. Everything he felt we, as the audience, felt. Every line he gave was delivered with conviction. His last words 'I don't want to go' just broke me down in tears again. I wanted to scream don't go!!! What a regeneration! The power it unleashed damaged parts of the TARDIS, which would explain the changes that will be made to it for series 5. I really, really love Tennant. I wish him the best for his new series, Rex is Not your Lawyer. People, tune in!

But just how sad was it that the four knocks came from Wilf. That just about killed me.

As for the appearance of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, people have already criticised him as being a clone of David Tennant. I say give him a chance. A few seconds are not enough to judge him, and know that his lines were written by Steven Moffat and not Davies. I myself liked him - though I'm not sure about the whole 'Geronimo' thing.

Still, I say bring on Series 5!

Russell T. Davies Q & A on Digital Spy

On Christmas Day, part one of the last David Tennant Doctor Who specials, The End of Time, aired on the BBC.

That same day, Digital Spy published an exclusive Q & A with Russell T. Davies, the man who brought back Doctor Who to milions of fans and to international acclaim.

Amongst the questions asked, Davies skirted the regeneration part saying

You don’t know if there’s going to be one! Nice try. Well I’ve written two already; one for Chris and a fake one for David. The whole show keeps you on your toes. I can’t promise you anything. You think you’re going to see a regeneration, but I can’t say you’re going to see anything for the reason you think you’re going to see. We get more viewers each year by playing this game with people that we don’t give away too much.

He also talks about the love people have for David Tennant, and about the role the Master plays in the finale as well as his relationship with the Doctor

It’s complicated because he’s The Doctor’s enemy, but now he’s the only other Time Lord in existence, and I’ve always thought in a very strange way these two men love each other - not in a gay way, but they are similar and share a lot.

We learn more about their history, where they want to go. Both of them are heading for death, that’s the important thing. The Doctor knows he’s going to die, The Master is dying. He’s been brought back to life but it hasn’t worked, so both of them are trying to survive while heading to the Immortality Gate. Both in the same situation but at the same time enemies and total opposites. That’s why they’re magical characters. And two of the greatest actors in the land.

One more special to go on New Year's Day, and then we'll step into the Steven Moffat - Matt Smith Era. Though I'm looking forward to seeing season 5 and what's coming up, I can't help but feel extremely sad at the departure of those who made me discover and love Doctor Who.

Doctor Who: The End of Time - Pictures Galore and a Brand New Clip

Over at Den of Geek, there's a slew of promotional pictures from Doctor Who: The End of Time, the 2-part series that will mark the end of the Davies-Tennant era.

We see Wilf, who is officially the Tenth Doctor's last Companion, his grand-daughter and former Companion Donna, her mother Sylvia, The Master, as well as brand new characters. We also have our fist pictures of actress Sinead Keenan who also appears in the specials in the role of Addams, a green spiky alien. I interviewed Miss Keenan a few months back and you can read it here.

Tentative UK Dates for Doctor Who: The End of Time

According to Digital Spy, the final episodes of the Davies-Tennant era of Doctor Who will air during Christmas Day at 7:30PM on BBC One and New Years Day again at 7:30PM on BBC One.

Doctor Who: The End of Time - 3 Minute Clip!

This clip was shown earlier today on the UK TV program Children in Need.

*SPOILERS BELOW

The light silly mood of the beginning of the clip is quite a contrast to the ending of The Waters of Mars. It appears that the Doctor has done quite a bit of travelling and has gone into trouble in between specials, running away from his fate.

The most shocking revelation comes when the Doctor tells Ood Sigma that he got married to Good Queen Bess (Queen Elizabeth the First and this probably explains why she knew him at the end of Season 3 episode 2 The Shakespeare Code while he didn't), that he slept with her and the she was no longer the Virgin Queen! Haha!!

Ahhhh Russel T. Davies.

Torchwood Season 4 is a GO!

It seems that Torchwood 4 is a go and that we will have to wait until january in order to know in which format it will come back - will it be as a regular thirteen episode series or will it be a five episode event like Children of Earth was.

None the less, it seems the series is indeed a go.

In a recent TV Guide Magazine interview with Russel T. Davies, the former Doctor Who showrunner, but still Torchwood boss, has revealed that “The recession has hit British television, but fingers crossed, it will be a go. We expect things to start to move in January. We’ve got great ideas for the show. I think there’s a further lease on life for many years to come, but certainly for a [fourth season].”

Den of Geek goes further by claiming that Davies: knows exactly where everything will pick up, too. He admits that he already knows where Gwen, Rhys, their baby and Jack are, and what shape Torchwood itself would actually take (which is a big unresolved issue in itself).

Of all the original Torchwood cast members only Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper are left. Question is, who will be filling the rest of the team?
